“Ponder on the past not as the past but a pointer to the present”
Sir Geoffrey Jellicoe
The Friends were delighted to involve the next generation in burying a time capsule full of items that are important to them, and that they could tell their own children about.
The whole school joined in the project and the school’s council shared in assembly the specific items they had chosen to put into the time capsule. The children put the items in the capsule too. The items included: a day in the life of a year 6 pupil, a price list of activities children in Hemel can spend their money on and a letter from the first Chair.
On 1 December 2016, 5 pupils from South Hill primary school and their teacher joined the Friends and Dacorum Borough Council in the Gardens to watch the burial of the time capsule. The Hemel Movie makers were on site to record the event.
The time capsule is logged with the International time capsule society in Atlanta USA.
The time capsule is to be opened in 25 years time, in November 2041.
